It is difficult to keep a healthy average weight. To keep a healthy weight, people must be committed to exercising daily, eating healthy and nutritious foods and working harder to meet goals.

“It was hard getting into a new diet in the beginning, but once I got into the daily routine and reached my goal, it felt great,” said junior Kerri Kuzowsky.

Staying healthy means more than dropping pounds. It has other benefits, too.

“Healthy eating may also help you maintain a healthy weight, boost your heart health, prevent diabetes and improve your brain function,”said Mala Srivastava in her article “Benefits from Eating Healthy” at Livestrong.com.

Keeping a healthy diet consists mainly of making good food choices. Avoiding junk food has a big impact on weight loss. Fast food places such as McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Nifty Fifty’s, KFC and Burger King should be avoided. By avoiding fast foods, people are avoiding greasy foods that are bad for their skin, heart and weight.

Helping the body stay hydrated by drinking water every day is another way of keeping the body energized and healthy.

A healthy diet may be hard to do but it is worth the dedication. Healthy diets can make a person not only healthy but happier mentally and physically.

“ I believe that even if you are happy with your body, you should still keep up with staying healthy and happy with the way you are,” said junior Lindsi Smith.
