Home of the Raiders Archbishop Ryan hosted the boys’ volleyball first game March 30 against Lansdale Catholic and lost 3-0.

There were a couple of runs off of serving, which means the server kept scoring points every time he served, but that did not stop the Raiders from trying their best.

Senior Patrick Mariner said, “It is only our first game. We have many more games to look forward to, and [we’ll] start practicing what we really need help on so we can be better players.”

In addition to Mariner, the team has some new senior players, including Stephen Gantz, Nicholas DiBello, and Patrick Detruex.

Senior Stephen Gantz said, “I chose to play volleyball my senior year because I wanted to have fun with my friends and be able to say I played a sport for Ryan.  I think this season is going to be a great season. We just have to keep our head in the game and keep practicing.”

Agreeing with Gantz, DiBello said, “It definitely keeps you moving around and in shape, and I like being able to play a sport with my friends for a high school team.  I never thought I would join the boys volleyball team, but it turns out I am enjoying every second of it and would try to recruit anyone I could.”

There are more games to come, and especially more to win for the Raiders volleyball team.
