AR girls place first in season’s first PCL track meet

The Archbishop Ryan girls’ track team was very successful this Tuesday as it placed first in its first PCL track meet, beating six other teams.  

The first event of the day was the 300 hurdles. Freshman Kelsey Sebwe was the winner of this event with a time of 54.2 seconds.

The next major event was the 100.  The team’s best time for this event was 13.6 seconds, which was run by freshman Gabby Brunkel.

Both 4×800 teams dominated the event by taking first and second.  The relay team included Brittany Kahhan, Nichole Davis, Erin Dunphy, Anna Fratanduono, Frances Chung, Sam McCurry, Cara DiMarcantonio and Meg Kirn.  Fratanduono also killed it in the two mile, coming in first with time of 13.49.  Junior Kayla Parkinson and sophomore Bridgette Lazar ran the 800 and took 13th  and 15th place, running a time of 3.12.  The meet ended with the 4×400. The Ryan girls took first place in this event with a time of 4.26.

“I love my team very much, we all push each other to do our best in every event we run.  I would not be able to make it through these long meets without my family,” said by Eileen Moroz.  A distance runner and a hurdler on the track team.
