Last week, the temperature swung from chilly to steamy, not only outside but also inside the halls of Archbishop Ryan. During the beginning of last week, some students at AR were wearing their school sweaters. By the end of the week, students shed their sweaters and were asking teachers to open the windows and even asking them to go into the labs and library, where it is air conditioned.

Last week, the temperature was as low as “68 degrees and reached as high as 94 degrees on Thursday, May 18th,” stated The National Weather Service.  Yesterday and today, milder temperatures have returned.

With the school building getting hotter last week, all the windows were open, all the fans were turned on, and students tried to get into air conditioned classrooms and labs as much as possible.

Senior Seamus Lynch stated, “The building has been so hot these past couple days. Everyone in the building has been complaining about it. I have a free period and work in the Student Services office, which is air conditioned so it’s a nice break from the heat. However, not everyone’s that lucky.”

The class of 2017 is getting more excited for graduation while the temperature rises. The soon-to-be graduates are hoping for nice weather the day of their Baccalaureate Mass and their commencement, while the rest of the school is hoping for some air conditioning.

The weather prediction for the Baccalaureate Mass on June 1 is 79 and cloudy, according to AccuWeather. The weather for the graduation on June 5 is 74 and cloudy, AccuWeather forecasted.
