Archbishop Ryan held our second annual dance-a-thon called, “Tribe-A-Thon” on Saturday January 27. Tribe-A-Thon is a dance marathon that lasts from 5pm. to 12am. During these 7 hours, those attending get to sing, play games, eat food and dance for the kids! In the days leading upto thon, everyone strives to reach a certain goal to donate to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). CHOP is a pediatric healthcare facility and primary care provider, offering the best available care and support for kids.

CHOP takes the donations they receive and they pay their patients’ medical bills with them instead of adding more stress to the families.  Last year was very successful, we surpassed our goal of $10,000 with $27,270.09. The tribe’s goal this year was to donate $30,000 and our final total was $20,280.36. Some people were disappointed with our outcome but Co-President Dan Chiodo told us to keep one thing in mind:

“We did not reach our goal but, that’s $20,280.36 more to CHOP that they would have not gotten without us. I am proud to say that we raised all this money for the kids, we’ll see you all next year.”

There were multiple events going on throughout the night to keep everyone on their feet. Every hour, there was a dance performed by a few of our students called the Morale Dance. The idea of performing every hour is to teach the audience the dance so, that we could dance as one in the final hour. There were also 24 different raffle baskets including a set of junior and senior prom tickets, a signed pair cleats, a signed hockey stick, a variety of gear from the Archbishop Ryan school store and many more. Towards the end of the night, there was also a musical performance by thon’s co-president Dan Chiodo and friends. Their band is called Framework and they did various covers of songs like Aeroplane and Under the Bridge by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Treasure by Bruno Mars and, Suit and Tie by Justin Timberlake. It was overall an amazing night and we are beyond excited to keep a tradition of hosting Tribe-A-Thon every year at Archbishop Ryan.
