Starting in 2017, the girls lacrosse team will have a new coaches. Ms. Kelly Campbell and Ms. Samantha Herron, will be taking over this coming spring season.

Herron and Campbell are currently teachers at St. Christopher’s Grade School. They also were teammates in college at Chestnut Hill College. Campbell was a senior captain when Herron was a freshman.

“This will be my fourth year coaching girls’ lacrosse,” said Campbell. “I was the assistant coach at Gwynedd-Mercy Academy High School for the past three years.”

As for Herron, this is her first year coaching. She has volunteered at lacrosse clinics, but this is her first official coaching position.

“When I was told about this opening, I was interested right away. What a great opportunity this is to return to Ryan as the lacrosse coach after going through the program,” said Campbell.  “It’s a bit crazy to think eleven years ago I was trying out for the team as a freshman, and now I’m on the other side as the coach.”

The girls lacrosse team has not had a steady coach in recent years. Although lacrosse is fairly new to Ryan’s roster of  sports teams, there have been multiple coaches within the past few years. Coach Campbell and Coach Herron plan to be long term coaches.

“I feel very blessed to have this opportunity at Archbishop Ryan and cannot wait to get to coach a great group of girls,” said Herron.
